Storms threatening - funny how it always rains the moments the kids go on holiday.
I have long memories of getting a new summer sweater every year to battle the elements at the beach every year and building wind breaks to shelter behind.

South Africa is coming to terms with what looks a lot like an organised insurrection. It has been a shock to the system. More worrying is the looted 1.5 million ammo stolen in KwaZulu. Covid and ANC corruption all have contributed to this state of affairs.

Olympics in Japan are on. In the UK we can finally hug someone now. Freedom from masks and social distancing is one crazy political gamble. If Boris is wrong about this will he resign? You might just want to hang on to your mask if using public transport or flying anywhere... especially as now Americans can fly over to the UK without quarantining.

Just discovered the Goverment wants to bury all the UK's nuclear waste under my neighbourhood beach (well ok it's ten miles up the coast from here). It's also a flood zone. The East Coast of the UK is an 'at risk' area from climate change flooding. So naturally that's where you'd put the waste right? Jeez.

Finally got back to the cinema to see Black Widow. More Marvel Bang, Crash, Wallop but with flair and humour and one can see a franchise building with the two sisters taking on the bad guys. Nice to be able to see a big screen again.

Everyone is obsessed with going on vacation to somewhere ‘warmer’ but the virus has other plans. The airlines are all saying they will go bust if we don’t start flying immediately, but the virus graph is rising exponentially.  Not just here in the UK but America and Europe too and still people resist getting vaccinated.  It’s not a choice people.  The whole world needs to be protected or we will be chasing variants for decades. Meanwhile the world struggles to get back to normal, if that is actually possible. Like others, I want to enjoy some freedom before the new Delta 'Plus' Mutant virus sweeps all before it.  Hence they want us to have a booster shot in the fall but then no doubt there will be a Delta 'Plus Plus' by Christmas and so on ad infinitum. Remember, the vaccine prevents you from serious illness but this doesn't mean you won't catch it (however mild it might be) and then spread the virus for around ten days when infected. This is medicine not magic. Keep taking precautions. Just posted Panic in America from Delta.

Whichever wave we might be on right now – you can read my earlier take on a pandemic scenario (Another Place to Die) here.

Mission Longshot Celebrating the publication of MISSION LONGSHOT:
how far will you go to save one life?

The climate is changing fast - the future of humanity is at stake, who wants to escape to an alternative planet on that spaceship with Elon? (Well not that actual spaceship but you know what I mean). Buy a ticket and enjoy the ride. But don't forget to buckle up. It might not go where you thought it would.

'Gripping adventures with highly engaging characters.' W. Leff - Goodreads
