2002 SCREENWRITING PROGRAMME AT THE SALIGNAC FOUNDATION
The
Salignac Foundation of France is pleased to announce new Screenwriting
Workshops for 2002.
We are privileged to have Sam North who will be hosting screenwriting
workshops during 2002. Sam recently led the Post-Graduate Programme in
Screenwriting at Falmouth College of Arts where several students have
since obtained agents. He has just had a new screenplay optioned which
is going into pre-production in 2002. He is the published author of six
novels, has worked in radio and TV drama and runs an award winning magazine
on the web (www.hackwriters.com)
1st to 4th March - a long weekend workshop (Friday
to Monday) This will include plotting, characters, scenes, genre, brainstorming
- with the objective to writing a ten-minute screenplay. Fee: €434.50
(€359.51 with discount)*
You will develop your ideas through character exercises, basic story telling
techniques and establishing your goals for the weekend.
Every day you will also watch and analyse some short films, breaking them
down into their scenes and components. Then will start to develop your
own very low budget ten minute script, paying attention to audience, timing
and getting in an out of scenes. Pitching, viewing, discussion and writing
techniques will also be covered. Acting out, reading from established
short scripts or screenplays. Action, movement, emotion
completion
of script, read throughs in character for all of them. Critical feedback.
20th to 24th May - A 5 day (Monday to Friday) workshop.
You will already have written a treatment and/or a feature script that
requires further development. This is intended for the more advanced.
Fee: €540 (€468.14 with discount)*
The workshop will include:-
Discussion of what is working and what doesn't. Readings of each script
in character. Group discussions followed by one on ones with the tutor.
Working on difficult scenes script by script.
Viewing, discussion, social occasions where scripts can discussed in calm
way. Marketing, pitching, audience, dialogue, for these scripts. Rewrites,
new pages, PM sessions where redrafts and scenes are discussed. These
intensive workshop sessions aim to improve and polish your scripts to
a professional level. Assessment, readings of improved scenes, refined
pitching and synopsis. The aim is to leave Salignac more confident that
the script is now back on track.
We will also be offering further screenwriting workshops by Sam North
during the summer. Dates will be announced shortly.
*Don't forget that these workshops, and all the other courses/workshops
offered by The Salignac Foundation during 2002, qualify for our discounts
if booked before January 31st. 2002. When a course or workshop is booked
before 31.01.02 the standard deposit of €152 (Euros) must be paid
at the time of booking and the balance payable no less than 2 weeks prior
to the start date. 1 € Euro is approximately £0.65 (Dec 12
2001)
If, in the unlikely event of a course or workshop being cancelled by us
for whatever reason, then a full refund of the deposit will be made.
The course fees do not include accommodation but it is available locally
at very reasonable rates, however, it is wise to remember that this area
is very busy during the high season so early booking is strongly advised.
