The International Writers Magazine: Italy

“A postcard sent from gods”: this is how poet Andrea Zanzotto loved to define Rolle di Cison di Valmarino, a village surrounded by the soft hills of Treviso, in Veneto. In this charming Italian location, where olive trees and vineyards sweetly cling to slopes, life is still flowing slow, regulated by the laws of nature and by farming rhythms.

Rolle

In these valleys located 40 km from the art town of Treviso, we find the first Italian village which in 2004 gained the prestigious definition of FAI site by Fondo Ambiente Italiano, in order to preserve the environmental and natural features that characterize it. An ideal destination for biking, for walking and for the evocative views that make it a much sought-for destination by motorcyclists.

The village is an ideal starting point to leave at the discovery of places of high artistic, historical and natural interest of Marca Trevigiana and beyond: at a short distance you can find San Pietro di Feletto, Refrontolo, Arfanta, Corbanese, Conegliano and Sarano or art treasures such as the water mill of Croda, the Abbey of Follina, the castle of Conegliano, the castle of Cison di Valmarino, the Caves of Caglieron in Vittorio Veneto and the cellars of Valdobbiadene.

Just 30 km from there, the Cansiglio plateau is the perfect destination for excursions, and for lovers of golf and mountain-bike, while at the lake of Santa Croce nearby it is possible to practice windsurf. Treviso, Venice, Asolo, Cortina and the white peaks of the Dolomites are not far as well.

Guest House In this fairy-tale scenario the B&B Gastaldo di Rolle rises, a romantic and refined location directly overlooking the surrounding valley. The atmosphere is warm and cozy thanks to the passion of the Andreetta family, that for three generations have taken care of hospitality and cuisine, and to the carefully furnished bright rooms, all opening onto the wonderful valley.
Food
Wine Cellar

A little paradise for all the lovers of good food and wine: homemade cakes, self-produced cold cuts, a fine selection of local cheese, natural honey, fruit jams and the famous extra-virgin olive oil. The highlight is a choice of italian and foreign wines including over 350 labels, carefully selected by owner Alberto, an expert sommelier, together with Prosecco and Cabernet Franc, and many other local productions like Verdiso, Refrontolo Passito (Marzemino), Torchiato di Fregona and Raboso Piave.

Guests of the B&B can have dinner at a special price at Restaurant Da Andreetta, in the big stone house: surrounded by hills and woods and framed by the wide terrace overlooking the valley, it dominates the landscape with its sober and refined atmosphere,
